The grandiose K2, which resembles a small luxurious village and is located on the side of the mountain along the Cospillot slope pays tribute to Asia and especially to Tibet and Nepal, the Himalayan region and the origin of a great many second hand objects and antiques tastefully exhibited throughout the hotel. Certain artifacts transformed into works of art are on display in the impressive entrance hall, a spectacular venue bathed in light. Stone columns rise up to the ceilng with statues of warriors. Visitors are struck by the varied yet harmonious blend of material and shapes. A very contemporary feeling permeates the site although human warmth is omnipresent thanks to the artistry that demonstrates a love of Asia and its mysteries. The K2 has 29 rooms and 5 chalet suites. The suites are very brightly lit and some of them can accommodate up to 12 guests. With the same contemporary elegance, we find furniture covered with gray and red toned fabrics. These exceptional chalets are very intimate havens of peace and quiet and are also accessible from the basement level. Space is the key word at the K2 with a generous amount of room for even the most demanding guests. The K2 is not only grandiose by its size but also thanks to the numerous services it offers including a cinema, cabaret, night club, boutique, ski shop, smoking room and hair salon not to mention the prestigious Goji Spa by La Prairie. The hotel has two restaurants one of which, the Kintessence, was awarded its second star in the prestigious Michelin Guide for 2014, a deserving recognition for a pure and inspired cuisine which continues to impress and to innovate.

Courchevel

Courchevel’s 119 ski slopes covering 493 kilometers make it the world’s largest skiable area. In addition, it has 174 ski lifts for its 32,000 tourists in high season and its 800 monitors. But how exactly did this Saint-Tropez type village so popular with the jet set come about? The resort was officially born in May, 1946 as a socially conscious vacation spot open to all layers of the population with the goal of encouraging tourism in the Savoie region by making the mountains available to everyone. This idea continued on until the late 1990s when the construction of more luxurious hotels, notably the Courchevel 1850 village became a popular vacation spot for Russian oligarchs. Although the three other villages that make up the resort remain family oriented, the image of Courchevel as a luxury site is now anchored in people’s minds. More than just another ski resort, Courchevel is legendary. Over the years, it has become the incarnation of the perfect blend of snow and luxury. Courchevel is the international symbol of a top of the scale resort. As a destination for the rich and famous, Courchevel’s success continues to increase with, as proof, the regular addition of new five star hotels.

The Orient re-viewed and corrected

The grandiose K2, which resembles a small luxurious village and is located on the side of the mountain along the Cospillot slope is obviously named after the world’s second highest summit. In this manner, the hotel pays tribute to Asia and especially to Tibet and Nepal, the Himalayan region and the origin of a great many second hand objects and antiques tastefully exhibited throughout the hotel. Certain artifacts transformed into works of art are on display in the impressive entrance hall, a spectacular venue bathed in light. Stone columns rise up to the ceilng with statues of warriors. With the same contemporary elegance, we find furniture with gray and red toned fabrics. These exceptional chalets are very intimate havens of peace and quiet and are also accessible from the basement level. The K2 is not only grandiose by its size but also thanks to the numerous services it offers including a cinema, cabaret, night club, boutique, ski shop, smoking room and hair salon not to mention the prestigious Goji Spa by La Prairie whose circular swimming pool has a manala floor cut in stone. The hotel has two restaurants one of which, the Kintessence, was awarded its second star in the prestigious Michelin Guide for 2014, a deserving recognition for a pure and inspired cuisine which continues to impress and to innovate.

The K2’s five chalet suites exemplify the hotel’s exceptional nature. In addition to their size, (500 to 640 square meters), they offer the ultimate in luxury for skiing enthusiasts. Each one has its own staff consisting of a butler, a governess and a chef.

Courchevel Hotels

For advanced skiers or for the beginners, Courchevel remains the ideal resort for snow fun. As for hotels, the offer is bloated and particularly varied.
