To accurately describe Barcelona, it’s essential to invoke certain colors, beginning with the blue of the sea. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean the Catalonian capital possesses vast beaches and a spectacular seafront, enabling the city to enjoy the ocean breezes all year long. Located since 2009 in the very luxurious Passeig de Gracia quarter, the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona is one of the city’s most beautiful hotels.

To enter the ultra modern universe of designer Patricia Urquiola, you first have to cross the futuristic footbridge of the atrium and then look up at the vast wall whose geometric openings give guests an inkling of what is store for them inside the hotel.

There are no doors limiting the entrance space, only screens which seem to be made of lace to define the different areas. The transparency and the light enhance Patricia Urquiola’s sublimate the decoration, like for example in the Blanc Restaurant, where different shades of white are warmed by the natural light that inundates the room. Large armchairs and sofas create this same warm atmosphere in the gastro-bar.

Light and subtle tones are also the order of the day in the hotel’s 98 rooms. The furniture, both designer and classic, creates an ambiance of elegance and refinement. The rooms, ranging in size from 35 to 230 square meters are luxurious and restful thanks to their clear lines, generous volumes and noble materials.

Once again, sliding screens in orange tones set the limits of the different spaces, as well as being a reminder of the hotel’s oriental origins and inspiration.

The Mandarin Oriental Barcelona also possesses a one star Michelin guide gastronomic restaurant, The Moments, under the direction of chef Carme Ruscalleda, whose authentic and traditional cuisine has already received several awards.
