Reflections Rooms

4 stars, Art, Boutique hotel, Charm, Design, Unusual, Luxury, City, Cultural activities, Wellness, Wedding & Honeymoon, Art collection, Gastronomy, Swimming pool, Adult only, Restaurant, Spa

The Reflections Rooms is located in the center of the bustling city of Bangkok. More than just a simple hotel, it’s an art hotel, a veritable artistic project sprung from the imagination of multi-millionaire designer and art lover, Anusorn Ngernyuang. Situated in an apartment building, repainted in a flashy pink color, the Reflection Rooms propose 28 rooms each decorated by a different artist. No two rooms are the same although the tone is consistent: fun, colorful and accessible to everyone. Each door has a name clearly and colorfully written on it. The Post for example, is entirely composed of recycled and oddly used objects. The Lazy Day has a hammock and a sand beach whereas the Taj Mahal places guests in the heart of Bollywood. The hotel holds art exhibits regularly, featuring young talent. A swimming pool, a colorful spa and an equally colorful restaurant complete the facilities of this excellent art hotel. The Reflection Rooms is a veritable oasis in the bustling Thai capital and undoubtedly the most avant-garde hotel in all of Asia.

Bangkok

Bangkok, capital of the former kingdom of Siam since 1782, is a booming metropolis of 10 million inhabitants and the economic, political and cultural center of the country. It is also a city where the traditional and the contemporary coexist very well together. Built on the Chao Praya River, it is crossed by numerous canals known as khlongs, endless avenues.

Upon arriving in Bangkok, the noise, the pollution, the airplanes flying over it and the immense skyscrapers do not present a very flattering picture of the city. Nevertheless, Krung Thep as it is called by the local population, meaning city of angels, has two a dual image: that of traffic jams, the urban sprawl of a modern city and a thriving business district, and that of a more traditional city with houses on stilts, small boats that supply Bangkok with fruits and vegetables, historic palaces and 300 temples. From Sukhumvit Road Avenue to the floating markets, trendy nightclubs and emblematic monuments such as the Grand Palace, the Golden Mountain temple, the pavilions of the Wat Phra Kaero royal temple and its venerated Emerald Buddha all make Bangkok a disconcerting yet fascinating city.

An arty oasis in the midst of a metropolis

The Reflections Rooms hotel is in the heart of bustling Bangkok. More than a hotel, it’s an artistic project, the dream of a multi-millionaire, Anusorn Ngernyuang, a designer and a passionate art lover. The concept is incredible: take a residential building, repaint its façade in a flashy pink and have a different artists decorate each room and thus obtain an excellent art-hotel and probably the most avant-garde in Asia.

No room resembles any other although the tone remains the same: fun, colorful and accessible for everyone. Each room has a name which reveals the theme. The Industrial Post room for example, consists exclusively of recycled objects. The Bohemain Rhapsody room is in total opposition to bourgeois standards with a green ceiling and gypsy fabrics. The Lazy Day has a hammock and a sand beach. In the Taj Mahal, we’re in the heart of Bollywood. In the Disco room, there’s no dance floor, only disco lighting, and in the Erotic Amazing room, there’s a revisited version of a gynecologist’s chair. Each guest therefore can find what he or she is looking for and spend the night enjoying it. The majority of the artists are Thai designers although there is also a Czech, a Belgian and an Englishman each of whom came to add a touch of madness to the project.

To recuperate after a fantasy filled night, a swim in the pool or a massage in in the brightly colored spa is strongly recommended before trying the delicious Thai and Japanese dishes under multi colored lanterns.

In order to give young talent the possibility of showing their work, the hotel turns itself into an art gallery. Numerous artists have therefore had the chance to meet the hotel’s international clientele, many of whom are very interested in modern art.
