The Four Seasons Koh Samul Resort, deep in the jungle, on a hill of the Laem Yai Bay overlooks the mythical Gulf of Siam. In this heavenly décor, the resort’s 74 rooms are spread out over several villas along the hill, each with an incomparable view. The immense and luminous villas built in typically Thai style architecture, are both classic and contemporary, sober and chic with a dominance of wood, draperies, lush vegetation and every possible modern comfort. The Lan Nia restaurant at the top of the hill has a panoramic view of the picturesque bay and the adjacent islands. The Pla Pla restaurant proposes fish and shellfish on the beach not far from the superb infinity swimming pool. Finally, a magnificent spa nestled in the forest of coconut palms offers guests total intimacy. The varied services, enchanting setting and exceptional service confirm the celebrated Four Seasons reputation for excellence.

Koh Samui

Koh Samui, Thailand’s third largest island is located in the Gulf of Thailand, east of the Isthmus of Kra. Koh means island in Thai. Bordered by coconut palms and white sand beaches and covered in bougainvilleas, Samui used to live exclusively off fishing and the exploitation of copra. In the 1970s, the first European tourists were hippies in search of a wild natural environment. The island had no infrastructure, and they slept in villages with neither water nor electricity. In just two decades, this earthly paradise became famous throughout the world. In addition to attracting tourists who come here to party and celebrate the full moon, lazy beach vacationers, nautical sports lovers and visitors in search of authenticity are all drawn to the island.
Samui has a great
many temples including Phra Yai with its famous big Buddha which is for several kilometres, the Wongkaram and the Khun Aram both of which possess the mummified bodies of renowned Buddhist monks, and the Sumret with its handsome collection of precious statues. And for those who want to see animals like tigers, elephants, crocodiles and monkeys, animal parks are open to the public every day. With architecture that never surpasses the height of the coconut palms, Koh Samui has preserved its idyllic environment which continues to enchant all of its visitors

A On the side of a hill

Far from civilization, on a hill in the Bay of Laem Yai, the Four Seasons Koh Samui Resort overlooks the mythical Gulf of Siam. The hotel consists of a group of villas spread throughout the hill, literally drowned in the jungle. The surrounding nature is so invasive, to the point that sometimes it even of enters into the rooms. In the lobby, a fountain in the form of column of water crosses the floor. The villas’ gray color with high roofs of tiles and thatch represent typical Thai architecture. Bathed in natural light thanks to large bay windows, the white walls highlight the dark wood furniture. The classical and contemporary décor is both sober and chic. The curtains and cushions are in caramel, beige and white tones as well as tender green and lagoon blue. Wherever one looks there is wood, net materials and lush vegetation.
Whether on the hill or along the beach, the rooms open onto a terrace and an infinity pool in the colors of the sea. Breakfast is served at the Lan Nia, atop the hill so guests can enjoy the view of the bay and the neighboring islands. After swimming a few lengths in the magnificent infinity pool on the beach, guests can have lunch just a few meters away at the Pla Pla. And after a nap they can choose between an open-air massage either Balinese style alongside the water, or on a hill in one of the spa’s five villas. After a Thai or an Italian dinner at Lan Tania, it’s time for a final drink at the beach’s sumptuous bar. And not to worry…if you have to scale the steep hills to get back to your room, a buggy will do it for you!

Koh Samui has a very special site known as Hinta-Hinyai which means grandfather rock - grandmother rock. They’re natural rock formations in the shape of masculine and feminine genital organs.
